MINNEY SEES EARLY PAYMENT OF COUNTY LEVY

Asks Use of Mails to Speed Payments; Rush Caused By Tax Sales.

+

County tax payments are expected 0 be made earlier this year, County Treasurer Frank E. McKinney said ‘ ‘oday, basing his prediction on the ‘fact that the office has been crowd°d since March 1 with persons askng for their tax bills. The deadline for payment is May 2. The rush was attributed to the aX sale April 11, when property on “hich 1935 taxes have not been aid is to be placed on sale. Many cf those now obtaining the bills int=nd to pay the back taxes and prevent foreclosures - and sale next month, he said. It is probable, he added, that the cashier's windows in the main’ hall- : 3y will be opened earlier this s~ason. These windows, usually brought into use about the middle of April, probably will be needed about tie first ‘of the month, he ‘said.

Asks Use of Mails

Mr. McKinney reiterated his plea ne at taxpayers use the mails to ob¥tzin and pay their levies, This systea, he said, speeds payment and fe cilitates work in the Treasurer’s office. Those who’ use this plan should re~uest the office to mail their bill, inclosing with the request a selfac dressed and stamped envelope, he sad. Payment may be made by poste or express money order,’ or by pe-sonal check if the check is signed by the person in whose name the ta: bill is listed. In any method, the orc er or check should be made out for the exact amoun{ of the tax, he
