HOLLYWOOD, Fla., March 10 (U. P.) —Horton Smith of Chicago, out in front by two strokes, paced a strong field of golfers into the second 18-hole round of the $3000 Hollywood open today. Smith came up with a brilliant 66, five strokes under par, yesterday to set a local scoring record. He faced tough going from here out nevertheless, for 12 others bettered par in the first round. ’ Wiffy.
