The state ‘cage tournament, started on its road of upsets and teams that never, return, went into the second day today with 370 battles scheduled. Second round games are scheduled for, \ late this afternoon and tonight. | Hammond, Elkhart, Huntingburg, Jeffersonville and Frankfort were among the outstanding Indiana quintets to start the\second day of action which eventually will lead to a state championship, at Indianapolis March 26. Quarterfinals ‘will be finished today and tomorrow afternoon 265 teams head ‘into tle sectional semifinals. , Tomorrow night 64 sectional champions will be crowned.

little Castleton, 44 to 19; Manual nosed out Lawrence, 20-19, and Destubborn Broad Ripple team, 35 to 22. This victorious trio joined Ben Davis, Washington and Technical, who advanced through triumphs last night over Oaklandon, Warren Central and Franklin Township, respectively.
Manual Wins First Quarter
Hart of Lawrence opened the scoring by tipping in a two-pointer. Bragdon fouled Hibner who opened Manual’s scoring with a free throw. When Snoddy tipped the ball in from beneath the basket, Manual took a '3-to-2 lead. Ebey, fouled : by ‘McCarty, sank two free throws putting Lawrence into the lead, 4-3. Snoddy fouled Hart, who made good the free throw.

Chapman scored two points for Manual as the second half opened. Harper scored from the charity line for Lawrence. Hart fouled Mueller, who missed, but Dersch tipped in the rebound to give Manual a 16-to-12 lead. . Bragden of Lawrence stood in the coffin corner and scored. Witte returned to the Lawrence lineup, replacing Harper at guard. Hickey replaced Hibner of Manual. Bragdon of Warren tied the score with a shot from right center but Chapman regained the lead for Manual a moment later when he dribbled in front of the basket and hit a righthand shot. With three minutes of the third quarter remaining, Lawrence took time out. McCarty went in for Dersch of Manual. Manual firing away at the basket but failing to connect.

Snoddy of Manual fouled Ebey, but Ebey muffed the free throw. Mueller went under the basket to score for Manual. Nicholson went in for Hart of Lawrence. Wight of
