MEDICAL CARE. TAKES QUARTER
OF RELIEF FUND|
Cost of Home and Hospital Treatment Second Only To ‘Food in State.
Nearly a quarter of $6,700,000 spent in Indiana for relief in 1937 was appiled to medical care, the State Welfare Department anpounced today. : Expenditures for home and hospital treatment ranked second to food costs. More than half the relief funds were expended for food. {Thirteen per cent was spent for fuel. Clothing, shelter and other
cent each.
Hospital care increased- from 40 per cent of the total medical bill in.
1933 to nearly 60 per cent last year.|.
