Nation Should Oppose War, Emmert Tells Shelbyville Lincoln Rally.

VINCENNES, Feb. 18 (U. P.)— The Republican. Party must fight for what is good. for the working man of the nation if it is to survive, Judge James A. Emmert of Shelbyville teld a Lincoln Day rally here last night. The country should be against war, Judge Emmert said, “because the working man has to pay for it in lowered real wages, in higher taxes, direct and hidden, in loss of jobs, in depression and widespread human misery.”

Halleck Says Youth Will Pay Huge Bill PHILADELPHSA, Feb. 18 (U. P). —Rep. Charles A, Halleck (R. Ind.) told the Philadelphia Young Repub-

licans last night that “youth will pay the bill” for huge governmental expenditures. “The entire generation will be paying for this generation and all the next,” the Congressman asserted, “ but upon no group wijll,the burden be so heavy as upon those who are today entering upon their careers in business and the professions.”
