CHANGE MADE IN RAIL SCHEDULE TO VINCENNES

One Train Daily. Is Ordered, Permitting Improved Shopping Facilities.

The Indiana Public Service Commission today ordered the Pennsylvania Railroad to change the sthedule of its trains ‘between Indianepolis and Vincennes, The railroad’s petition to abandon passenger service on this line

is pending, but Qscar Lindstrand, Chicago, railroad counsel, said “the Pennsylvania was willing to wait and see if people will take advantage of the change.” Following a public hearing here yesterday attended by 150 residents of Vincennes, ‘Bicknell, Spencer and Sandborn, Commissioner Fred Bays announced: “The Commission is of the opinfon the public should have what it is demanding, and that it is to the best interests of all concerned that a revised schedule be adopted.” Under the order ‘the railroad is to continue to operate one train daily each way. The departure from Vincennes will be between 6 and 6:30 a. m. On the return trip the train is to leave Indianapolis between 5 to 6 p. m. Under the old schedule, residents testified it was impossible for a person using the service to leave Vincennes, transact business in Indianapolis and return home in less

NEED FOR ADEQUATE DEFENSE STRESSED

Colonel Davidson Addresses Heyward Barcus Post.

Lieut. Col. J. H. Davidson today had stressed the necessity for an adequate national defense before members of Heyward Barcus Post 55, American Legion. He spoke before the group at a meeting last night. Capt. Joseph B. Henninger, G. A. R. assistant adjutant general, guest of honor, spoke on “Abraham Lincoln with Reminiscences.” Winner of the Indianapolis high school essay contest on “The Constitution,” sponsored by the Post, is to be announced Feb. 22, officers said. Plans also were made for join ing the nation-wide American Legion membership drive.
