35,000 Tags Received for Distribution Within Marion County.
Collection of the 1938 state dog tax and distribution of tags will begin March 1, James F. Cunningham, Center Township assessor, has announced. Thirty-five thousand" tags have been received for distribution within Marion County. Under a 1937 law, township assessors are charged with collecting the tax and distributing the tags. Fees for male dogs are $1; females, $3. Each additional dog will be taxed $5. There is no tax for dogs under six months of age. The proceeds are used to pay farmers for stock injured by dogs.

Hearings have been promised by Senator Walsh (D. Mass.). Senate Naval Affairs Committee chairman, on a bill providing for Government construction of the entire program. This bill is fathered by Senators Bone (D. Wash), Clark (D. Mo), Pope (D. Ida.) and Nye and Frazier (R. N. D).
