Field Must Be Recognized on | Plane With Dentistry, Is Claim
“Medicine must and will recognize
optometry as a distinct public
health field on a plane with dentistry,” Dr. J. H. Hammon, Vincennes, today had told members of the Indiana Association of Optometrists whose
41st annual convention is nearing its close at Hotel Lincoln.
“The professions of medicine and optometry must agree to a division of labor in the care of the eyes of the public,” Dr. Hammon said. “Optometrists should care for the eye errors which can be corrected with glasses or orthoptic training. The physician, on the other hand, should confine his attention to diseases and surgery of the eye.”
Sees Dentistry Analogy
Dr. Hammon pointed out the parallel existing in the cases of optometry and dentistry. “At first physicians were dentists in much the same manner they are now optometrists,” he said. “Eventually the physician found he could serve his patient better by referring him to a dentist for dental work. “The time and energy which was formerly devoted to dentistry by the physician was now devoted to medicine. His patients then received both better medical care and better dental care. “The biggest step forward in a whole generation of public health will come in the next few decades when optometry and medicine follow this example. The public then can expect better eye care than formerly.”

MEN LOVE GIRLS WITH PEP
If you are peppy and full of fun, men will invite you to dances and parties. BUT, if you are cross, lifeless and tired, men won't interested. Men don't like “‘quiet” girls.
