Perry Reports Eagle Creek Project Is Nearing Completion.
On the East Side, 150 men are completing construction of baseball diamonds and a bicycle track in Brookside Park. Part of the work was started last fall but not completed, Mr. Perry sald.’ Garfield Park is being regraded and cleared. Roadways are being paved and creek beds terraced, the engineer said. More than 100 men are at work.’ He asserted work on all park projects would be completed before June 30 when the present WPA program is brought to a close. None of the projects, except for the Hol= liday Park program, is being carried out at taxpayers’ expense, Mr. Perry said.

Approximately 15 Democratic employees of the department were -ousted and replaced by Republicans after Clarence Vangilder, a Democratic commissioner, angered by the dismissal of some employees, joined ranks with Clarence Garham, new Republican commissioner. Arvil Eikenberry, the other Democratic commissioner, claimed the Highway Department would be to shut down until the County Council is called to reappropriate funds, because of Mr. Wagnei* resignation.
