lis have declined 5 to 7 cents a pound from the peak levels of last summer, but the drop largely is seasonal, local meat dealers reported today. . Pork prices, which climbed to wartime levels last summer, normally are lower in the winter, dealers said. One dealer estimated prices. .on some cuts have declined 10 per cent from the summer’s peak, while others have declined more. Sales volume, whi he said was little affected by fluctuating prices, is about the sahje.

Meat Prices Drop

Throughout U. S.

CHICAGO, Jan. 4 (U. P.).—The new year brought one thing that has eased the family budget problem for the American housewife— lower meat prices. - Since the peak last summer, drastic deflation of prices has occurred in the meat trading centers, the Institute of American Meat Packers said today in its annual report. There now is plenty of feed for meat animals where a shortage existed last spring ‘and wholesale prices are the lowest in three months, the report said.
