The Schumann-Heink “tradition” is to be carried on tonight when Kirsten Flagstad sings “Silent Night’ » for two minutes’ on NBCWIRE, beginning at 10:57 p. m. Beginning in 1931, when Mme. Schu-mann-Heink was 70, the NBC presented the beloved contralto in the equally beloved Christmas hymn. each year. Last year, the simple ceremony was thought to be ended. But now NBC has found an equally unassuming person with a great voice and great heart reminiscent of Sets mann-Heink. 3 8 2 8 WFBM is bringing you three CBS programs of Christmas music this evening. A ceremony as old as the Catholiz Church is to be broadcast over WLW tonight at 10:45 o'clock when the Mutual system brings to the radio audience the Pontifical High Mass - from the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains, Cincinnati. The Most Rev. John T. McNicholas, ‘archbishop of Cincinnati, will be celebrant and also will deliver the sermon. The program will begin with ctirols by the students of St. Ursula Academy and the Newman Choral group.. The Processional of the Nass, to be sung by the Congrega= itonal Choir of the Cincinnati arch=diocese, will be under the direction of Professor John T. Fehring, direce tor of music for the archdiocese.
