RESIENS PULPIT

Dr. Wicks To Retire

Souls Church.

The Rev. Frank S. C. Wicks is to resign from the pastorate of All Souls Unitarian Church, which he has held ior32 years, effective probably April 1, 1938, it had been announced today. Dr. Wicks, outstanding clergyman, civic leader and student of social submitted his resignation to the church board Monday night. It is to be presented to the church congregation Jan. 4. In his message to the board, Dr. Wicks said: “Por 82 years I have had the

‘| privilege of serving this congrega-

tion and watching it grow. . .. As this church has been my life work, so its future is my first thought. . . . “This last sumamer I have thought about it and felt that the growing | & institution should begin to have assistance from younger-hands, so this fall I suggested to your president that it was my desire to round out this 32d year of service and then be at your call for whatever assistance I can give you and whoever you choose to carry forward the growing work of my church ‘famey. The church board is expected to recommend Dr. Wicks’ appointment as pastor emeritus. The pastor said he would remain in Indianapolis and continue active work in civic and community affairs. Dr. Wicks concluded his 32 years service with delivery of last Sunday’s sermon. He came to Indianapolis in 1905 after serving churches in Passaic, N. J., and Boston. He has been preaching for more than 41 years.
