The grown-ups had a combined Christmas and birthday party yesterday when the Woman’s Contract Club celebrated its sixth anniversary at the Indianapolis Athletic Club with a Tuncheon-bridge party in honor of the founders. A huge six-tiered birthday cake, decorated with flowers and silver leaves, topped with a large numeral “six” and surrounded with six lighted czndles lent a gala air to the affair. The cake was a birthday gift from the Athletic Club to the Contract Club. More than 150 members, former members and guests attended the party. The long tables at which the club founders and their partners were seated were decorated with silver laurel wreaths; fruit, Christmas trees and ivory tapers. Wreaths of holly and tapers were used on the smaller tables and each place was marked with a nosegay of holly. The tables holding the prizes. were also decorated with silver wreaths, Christmas trees and Santa Claus figures in snow. Mr. Grace CS Buschmann, club president, greeted the members and their guests. The club, which was founded Dec. 10, 1931, and which held its first meeting Jan. 7, 1932, was organized to foster a love of duplicate bridge and sportsmanlike play and to encourage new players, she said.
