Dolls Assembled for ‘Convention’; City’s Needy Children to Get Them

Dolls are being assembled here for their second annual national convention, They are {o be shown tomorrow night in Shefgatcationa Building of the Downq Avenue. Christian Church. Children of that church are to present a program. And when the children have finished singing and reciting songs and poems about them, the dolls are to be turned over to church officials to be distributed to needy children. One curly-headed doll is Shirley Temple's personal “delegate.” It was sent from ‘California by mail. An accompanying letter from the «child movie star read: “I hope my dolly gets a good home

and makes some little happy.” A package of curlers and picture of Shirley also were in the box containing the doll. The first actual doll . convention was held in 1924 in Washington. It was the idea of a Christmas Church
