CONTRACTS LET "FOR BUILDINGS
Work on Three Structures at - State Institution to Begin Friday.

Contracts for construction of al}
power house and two dormitories at Muscatatuck Feeble Minded Colony, Butlerville, at a cost of $302,121, were let by the State Budget Committee today. The contracts were let to W. A. Sheets & Sons, Inc., Ft. Wayne. Of the total cost, $126,000 is to be borne by the Public Works Administration. Work is to be started by Friday. The committee approved a $20,000 appropriation for new equipment at the Logansport State Hospital and $1800 for repairs at the Claremont Girls’ School.

- COLUMBUS MURDER TRIAL SET FOR JAN. 3
COLUMBUS, Ind. Dec. 8 (U. P.). —Trial of Stanley Howard, 29, for the slaying of his wife, Mary, 24, is scheduled to start Jan. 3 in Circuit Court here. - Howard was arraigned yesterday before Circuit Judge George W. Long and entered a plea of not guilty. He had been indicted for first-degree murder and the State has indicated it will attempt to send him to the electric chair.

BLUE AUTO CLUE IN POSSIBLE KIDNAPING
‘WHITE PLAINS, N. Y., Dec. 8 (U. P.).—A blue automobile which may furnish a clue to the mysterious
disappearance of Arthur’ Fried, minor executive in a sand and grayel company, was sought today aftér Federal agents verified & report that a $200,000 ransom ' note had been received. Whether the ransom note was genuine was not determined. Federal Department of Justice men sought to track down its author in New York City after Hugo Fried, the missing man’s brother, told them it had been left in a washroom of a bar and he had been instructed by telephone where to find it.

HOOSIER FUGITIVE CAPTURED IN OHIO
Trap Set for Companion; State Police Help.
A prisoner who escaped from the State Prison farm at Michigan City more than three years ago today was captured near Mount Healthy, 0., by Indiana State police and Ohio officers, it was announced at State police headquarters here. A trap was set for another fugitive who escaped at the same time, July 7, 1934. The man. captured was John Chapman, 36, and -his companion was Claude Owen, 35, both sentenced May 23, 1932, from Daviess County to three to 10-year terms on second-degree burglary charges. Detectives Russell Coons and George Granholt and Lieut. Ray Kinkle, all of the Indiana State police, participated in the capture. Officers Coons and Granholt picked up the trail of the fugitives in southern Indiana about two months ago. It led to Mt. Healthy, officers said, where the men were living in a trailer on a farm outside the town.

of price-fixing codes. At a meeting last night, the organization passed a resolution denouncing minimum price schedules set recently by the National Bituminous Coal Commission.
The resolution read: “The national law, raising the price of coal, brings additional burdens to the poor, is oppressive to industry and a hindrance to prosperity.”
