announced today. The announcement
came after
Senator Minton introduced a joint | resolution in the Senate yesterday |
calling for an investigation by the Federal Trade Commission of manufacturers and dealers. “Many states have passed legiste regulate the automobile business to some exteni,” Mr, Schaefer said. “Similar action has been threatened in Indiana. In the discussion at this conference, we want to see if it is not practical tor the industry to set up its own board of mediation.”

Several Invitations Sent Mr. Schaefer said his organization had an interest in the investigation proposed by Senator Minton to correct existing inequalities. Organizations invited to send representatives to the conference to be held in the Claypool Hotel Dec. 13 are: Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, Ford Motor Co., Hoosier Finance Association, National Association of Sales Finance Companies, American Finance Conference, the National Automobile Dealers’ Association and the State Automobile Dealers’ Association. | Mr. Warnock declared that the
principal reason for lack of profit | mn the retail auto business was that |
“finance companies take all the profits of the small dealer who sets himself up without proper equipment and staff. “The large dealer with the greater
overhead is forced to compete with |
