LET'S EXPLORE YOUR MIND
YOU MAY be surprised to learn that a 600-page volume of scientific tests and measurements of the actual differences between men and women has just been published —a five-year research—by Prof. L. M. Terman and g Catherine Cox Miles, psychologist>Y and they find that there are many more things that are disgusting to women than to men. Such things as ‘ragged and - dirty fingernails,” “untidy clothes,” “chewing tobacco,” “foul language,” the word “gent,” “wienerwursts,” “body odor,” “pimples,” “gum chewing,” “a boy and girl petting”—“sagging socks on a man,” “sniffling,” perverted sex habits, etc. are all more digusting women than to men!

These personal qualities were attitudes, thoroughness, observation, concentration, initiative, creative imagination decision, adaptability, leadership, organizing ability, ex-

It is just this sort of old saw that leads people either to attempt the impossible or else to salve their conscience for not doing better. When people say they have done their best, they rarely have—they may have made one last spurt, but they have usually failed to prepare well enough in advance to do well.

Good Radio Music By JAMES THRASHER
American radio listeners may hear the pianist Artur Rubinstein for the first time tomorrow when he broadcasts as soloist with the New York
famous name has returned to the United States after an absence of 10 years. Better known in Europe than here, Mr. Rubinstein should recapture musical America’s fancy and win new admirers on his present trip, for he is an able virtuoso. Approaching 50, the pianist first attracted attention when the violinist Joachim heard him play when he. Rubinstein, was only 4. The young prodigy was trained under Leschitizky and played, like the old-time vaudeville acts, “before all the crowned heads of Europe.” He toured America in 1906, 1920, 1922 and 1927. Tomorrow's program will be allRussian. The scheduled numbers are the Overture to Rimsky-Korsa-“The Maid of Pskov”; the Arensky Variations on a Theme by Tschaikowsky, for string orchestra; the Tschaikowsky B Flat Minor Piano Concerto; Liadov’s “From the Apocalypse,” and a suite from a better-known Rimsky = Korsakoff
opera, “Le Coq gon.”

For this evening's NBC Symphony Orchestra concert, on NBC at 9 o'clock, Pierre Monteux has chosen a cosmopolitan program. It will open with the Handel Concerto Grosso in D Major, with Mischa Mischakoff, Edwin Bachmann and Oswaldo Mazzucchi as soloists. Then Sibelius, who really is becoming an orchestral “fad,” will be represented by the Andante and Scherzo from his first Symphony. Other compositions will be Griffes’ “The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Khan,” the Act I Prelude to “Lohengrin,” and Ravel's “Daphnis and Chloe.” Mr. Monteux, incidentally, gave the Griffes work its first performance in 1919, when he was Boston Symphony conductor. The composition and copying of this work 1s said to have hastened Griffes’ untimely death. n = » The St. Louis Symphony will make a guest appearance on Erno Rapee’s program tonight, with Vladimir Golschmann conducting. - Soloists will be Grace Moore, Richard Tau-
