PRINCETON, Nov. 19 (U. P) — Defense witnesses paraded to the stand today in an effort to prove that William Jackson Lankford was acting only in self-defense when he allegedly shot and killed Jesse Houchins, neighboring farmer, The State rested its case against Lankford late yesterday. was Killed near his tractor working in a field. Lankford has confessed the slaying, officials claim, but says he shot after Mr. Houchins threatend him with a gun. James Goodman, the first defense witness, testified he had seen Houchins and Mrs. Lankford together on numerous occasions.
