May Be Constructed

A. B. Good, business manager, and high school principals. |

Soon, He Hints.

An additional $100,000 sewer may pe included in the North Side drain program, City Engineer Henry B. Steeg indicated today. The sewer was recommended for future construction by the engineer in his report to the Works Board several weeks ago. He stated that two other overflow sewers should | be constructed immediately at an | estimated cost of $189,000 to prevent flooding of basements during heavy rains. The Works Board recently ordered the two sewers built but did not consider the third drain. It would extend the Fall Creek intarceptor pipe from Ruckle St. to Balsam Ave. Mr. Steeg said it should be started because “it will

at the Auto Show

thats what

have to be done some day, anyhow.” | The sewer, he said, would connect ey say |

with one of the main pipes leading

to the sanitation plant. Increased building in the area will make its construction necessary, he pointed out, | Mr. Steeg also explained that! actual construction of the drains | will not start until next spring because of the time needed to issue | bonds and advertise for bids. He said this would take at least 90 | days. | At the same time, Mayor Boetcher | announced plans for another bond | jssue of more than $300,000 to | finance another proposed South Side | improvement, The Fall Creek interceptor also | was recommended by Karl Korte- | peter, Marion County WPA direc- | tor. He has offered to furnish la- | bor for the work. City officials estimate this would reduce the cost 35 to 40 per cent, )
