Indianapolis In foreign wars except with the con-

sent of the people. | “People Want Say”

| “The people of America want to | have something to say as to whether their sons shall be hurled into the hell of a foreign conflict and now when both the Orient and Occident are aflame with war, they are beginning to think most seriously | Rol it. “Bruce Barton, elected to ConLites in the recent upheaval in New York City, is the latest accession to | the ranks of supporters of my resolution. He succeeds a member who was opposed. One hundred | and eighty-five members of Congress have signed a petition to bring the proposal before the House for a vote. Ten others have given me their promise they will sign when I give the word. “Mr. Barton's signature will make a total of one hundred and ninetysix signers. Only 218 signatures are | required to bring the proposal out | of committee for consideration and | record vote. Board Organized

“A hoard of directors comprised of | 40 of the eminent citizens of the country has been organized to promote my resolution from this time until it is enacted, whether that be one year or 10 years. “The masses of American people are asking why they should not have a right to vote on a question so tragic in its nature as a declaration of war that would send our fine young men abroad to be slaughtered. “The Congressional delegations of 13 states have signed the discharge petition solidly and 41 of the 438 states are represented among the signers, which shows how widespread the sentiment is in favor of | the proposal.”

BANDIT KNOCKED THROUGH WINDOW

CANTON, O.,, Nov. 12 (U, P.).— Ira Halterman, shoe store mane ager, became enraged today when three bandits jabbed a gun in his ribs while attempting to rob the store. Looping a long right from the floor he sent one of the robbers crashing through a plate glass window. The trio fled. “There wasn't much money for them to get,” Mr. Halterman explained. “But it made me sore when they jabbed my ribs with those guns.” The bandits, Lewis, Henry and Casey Nicradkoan, were captured.
