Builds Tavern Oy LEN : i
Above River
Times-Acme Photo.
When John Fowler of Lufkin, Tex. was forced to close his roadhouse tavern, as the county voted dry in a recent election, he built a bar-room on stilts above the water of the Neches River, near the shore in the adjoining “wet” county, with a boardwalk reaching to within five inches of the *“‘dry” county shore. Fowler seems to have solved the problem, although authorities have asked for an injunction
charging “obstruction of a navigable stream.”
