French Praise Incident by Chinese. |

PARIS, Nov. 5 (U. P.).—Frenchmen, strong on national pride and patriotism, love to recall the heroic deeds of their warriors, were filled with admiration by an attack on the Japanese flagship Idzumo off Shanghai by a Chinese “living torpedo.” France originated the idea of a living torpedo, it is boasted. It occurred in Chinese waters during the war with China over territorial rights in Indo-China, according to French naval records. | There were no torpedoes in those | days, but the French sailors placed | a mast in the bow of a small boat | and packed the point with dynamite. Volunteers steered the boat for the Chinese warship and sunk it. These first “living torpedoes” | escaped alive by leaping from their boat just before it struck the Chinese vessel, The French Navy has carried out many experiments with torpedoes | under radio control. But with re- | ports of Italian “death squadrons” | of fast speedboats carrving torpedoes in the bow and of airplanes charged with high explosives to] make power dives into enemy ships, | the French doubtless would find | their volunteers again in event of Mediterranean conflict if radio control were not yet perfected. |

With a boldness unheard of in clothing industry, Kamber Clothes established a record once and for all when the Indianapolis branch was opened.

When we announced a price of $17.75 for all-wool clothes, union made, our competitors grinned. They said it couldn't be done—BUT

WE'RE DOING IT.

We came to Indianapolis to give you men the same outstanding values offered in all our stores. We're not raising the price despite the tremendous increase in the cost of woolens, and union labor. Our volume sales at $17.75 will more than make up for the increased cost.
