COMMITTEE ON ESSAY CONTEST IS ANNOUNCED

Six History Teachers Form Staff for Legion Post’s School Event.

Appointment of a committee of six high school history instructors to conduct the fourth annual con- | stitutional essay contest has been {announced by the Hayward-Barcus Post 55, American Legion contest | sponsor, Appointed were Russell V. Sigler,

Shortridge High ‘School; Ralph O. Minnick, Technical; A. R. Williams, Manual Training; Miss Flora Will, Broad Ripple; Irven Armstrong, Crispus Attucks, and Miss Louise Ross, Washington. The committee is to formulate rules and regulations and choose subjects on some aspect of the U. S. Constitution for the essays, which will be written by the school pupils. A silver cup will be presented to the school producing the best essay in the city. The school winning the cup five times will obtain permanent possession. Previous winners were Technical, Shortridge and Washington, Each high school principal is to appoint a committee in his school to collect detaiis of the contest ana |to make final selections of the best | essays. A silver medal will be awarded to the writer of the best essay in each school. Approximately 500 compositions were written last year.
