Indiana's August relief bill was | $3,688,208 and Marion County's Pilz 44, according to a report | issued today by the State Np Department, The total expenditure was $434,000 less than during the same | month a year ago, according to the | report. Counties provided only ahout 5) per cent of the expenditure, the | statistics showed. For every dollar | provided by counties, other govern- | mental agencies supplied $17 Federal funds for WPA employees | paid 63 per cent of the State relief | bill. Security aid provided by Fed- | eral funds amounted to 114 per | cent of the bill, security aid with | State funds 8.7 per cent and direct | relief by townships cost 11.2 per | cent of the total. i The WPA payroll totaled $2.323.- | 128; direct relief $418,743, and $946,- | 336 was spent by other security aid | agencies, Throughout the State there was! a total of 126.000 cases in which some form of aid was given. | In Marion County, aid was given | to 5803 families and 2603 single | persons, the average to the 8406 | being $13.35. |
