Reorganization of the Indiana Roosevelt-Labor Clubs was announced today by Alex Gordon, state chairman, who said the clubs are to become a part of Labor's Nonpartisan League. Mr. Gordon, who also is State Legislative Board chairman of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, said the Indiana | club movement is to be extended throughout the State, He said the organization “will enter at once upon political activity designed ta assure the election of progressive, prolabor candidates wherever possible.”

The Federal Government, it learned today, is working on a dual program to increase the immediate safety of airplane flights over the deadly Rocky Mountains and to conceive a long-range method of in- | suring safe air voyages over the | Continental Divide. The immediate objective, it was learned, is development of technical aids to prevent such accidents | as the United Airliner crash which | killed 19 in the Wyoming Moun- | tas. The long-range program was un- | derstood to concern Government | co-operation with private transport lines to study the possibilities of sub-stratosphere flights which would have the triple virtues of speeding plane schedules, lessening | the amount of time over danger areas, and giving pilots a longer range in which to glide to the safety fields when trouble develops. Both programs, it was understood, | will be designed primarily to com- | bat danger over the mountain areas. Bureau of Air Commerce statistics | show that more than one-third of | the persons who have lost their lives in transport crashes in the last 10 vears have been in accidents in the | Rocky Mountain region.
