Board Decides to Defy Suit For Injunction Filed By Four Firms.
Sanitation Commissioner Maurice Tennant announced today that the City would begin garbage collections at four hotels and several restaurants as soon as possible, The announcement came after the Board of Works and Sanitation decided to make the collections despite an injunction suit filed by the ho-! tels in Federal Court, seeking to restrain the City from preventing pri- | vate sale of garbage. 1 Mr. Tennant said Cily departments would try to give the hotels and restaurants added service in view of the amount of refuse they deposit for collection.
“Others have to have their garbage out at a certain time, but this SESSIONS TODAY —LAGGARD is not possible in the downtown | |
area,” he said. “Collections will begin as soon as a schedule can be worked out.” The decision of the board ended, temporarily at least, a long controversy between hotels and the Ciuy | on the former’s right to sell the gar- | bage to a collecting agency | The State Supreme Court two weeks ago denied a rehearing of its ruling upholding the City’s right to celiect the waste material, The four hotels that asked the injunction are the Washington, Lincoin, Severin and Antlers. They contended that garbage is private property and therefore can be sold. Mr. Tennant said the collections would mean a “substantial amount” of revenues for the City.

T keep your car from growing old too soon... to make it run with that wonderful smootfaness and pep it used to have when it was new . . . pay a lot of attention to the crankcase. That's where a motor’s harden-ing-of-the-arteries starts.
So drain the crankcase—NOT your pocketbook, by refilling with Phillips 66 Motor Oil. It is Philips finest, made from a costlier 100% paraffin base crude.
It meets the higher requirements of today’s modern motors because it has high-degree oiligess. Refined into it by Phillips painstaking modern process. Besides, it is extra clean and extra thrifty. No wasteful light parts to cook out or burn out. Hence the film is tougher and longer-lasting.
Next time, drain and refill with Phillips 66 Motor Oil. It's concentrated! . . . This year’s big value in car lubrication. Look for the Orange and Black 66 Shield.

Today’s gas water heaters have improved burners which slash the cost of constant hot water.
Gas home heating units banish the dirt and drudgery of out dated heating equipment . .. do away with ordering, delivery and storage of fuel. And the cleanliness of automatic gas heat eliminates the “hidden” costs of winter comfort.
