trar, announced today. The College of Liberal Arts has the largest enrollment—690. Largest enrollment increase was in the education college, where 49 more registered than last year. Fall Guys
Leaves May be Pretty, But They Mean Work to City Crews. Fall is not only a season of beau-
tiful colors and wafting breezes, but a very practical problem to Street
Commissioner Fred K. Eisenhut who |.
today made plans to fight the onslaught of leaves. “Every crew in the department will be made available to keep the streets clear of : leaves,” he said. “This means that more than 100 men employed by the department, or all but those on sewer cleaning, will be used.” The greatest danger from the accumulation of leaves in the streets, he said, is that they get into sewer inlets and block them. First the maples begin losing their leaves about -the middle of this month, he said. Then the sycamores and beeches, and finally the poplars. He said the major part of the work will be completed by the middle of November—and then they prepare for snow!
$200 DONATED FOR CLEANING STREAMS
Two gifts of $100 each today had launched a county antipollution pro-
gram sponsored: by the Marion],
County Fish and Game Association. At a meeting of the association and 17 other groups last nignt, Sheriff Ray announced his donation. George J. Marott, shoe store owner, then offered to “match the Sheriff's $100.” W. H. Frazier of the State Health Department spoke at the meeting held in the Hoosier Athletic Club.
