A county-wide property reappraiseme; wads urged today by Robert an, County Assessor. “No equitable assessed ‘valuation upon which to base property tax rates now exists,” Mr. Sloan said “because there has been no countywide property appraisal since 1932.” Mr. Sloan said property valuations are adjusted on many properties from time to time as reappraisements -are requested by individuals, or when the State Tax Board orders reappraisement of a district. . “But,” Mr. Sloan said, “we should have a general reappraisal, because property values in this city shift in districts. “Just ‘as fast as a new development increases in value, an old section of town decreases,” he said. Mr. Sloan added that a bill enabling the county to reappraise property failed in the 1937 session of the Legislature. “We probably will not get a general appraisement until 1938,” he said. “No funds to carry out the . valuation were placed in the 1938 budget due to increases in taxes on other items.”
