Big Names Back Event For Cantor
Booth Tarkington and Capt. Rickenbacker Are on List.

brated Oct. 24-30. Telegrams and cables from the United States and foreign countries have been pouring into the Cantor Anniversary headquarters at the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles, bringing acceptances of various na- : tional leaders to serve on the honorary committee. . The active committee arranging the showman’s tribute includes Joseph M. Schenck, chairman; Will H. Hays, Postmaster General Farley, Louis B. Mayer, Paul Muni and Governor Merriam of California. First acceptance to serve on the honorary committee came from William Paley, Columbia Broadcasting System president, followed closely by that of Leo Spitz, RKO-Radio head. = Next came a cable from Gen. John J. Pershing in Paris, and then an acceptance from Governor Murphy of Michigan. Dr. Allen Roy Dafoe, in accepting, said: “I appreciate the honor of serving that grand fellow, Eddie - Cantor.” Admiral Richard E. Byrd telegraphed: “Eddie Cantor is a great scout and I have a high admiration for him.” Samuel Untermeyer remarked that Mr. Cantor “is always ready to share his prosperity with every: worthy, publicspirited cause, irrespective of race

Others who will serve as sponsors are Vice President Garner, Senators McAdoo and Johnson, and Governors Lehman of New York, Horner of Illinois and Allred of Texas. Celebrities from the world of sports, business, entertainment and the arts include Jack Dempsey, Rupert Hughes, Bobby Jones, Babe Ruth, J. Edgar Hoover, Col. Theodore Roosevelt, Alfred E. HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 30 (U. P.).— Helene Costello, after an absence of many years, will return to the screen as a stock player at 20thCentury Fox Studio... The actress, sister of Dolores Costello, left motion pictures during the silent days to become the wife of a Cuban millionaire.
