STORAGE FIRMS ASK NEW RATES
Increases Needed: Because Of Pay Boosts, Plea To P. S.C. Says.
The Indiana Public Service Commission today had under advisement the petitions of nine Indianapolis storage companies which seek to raise their handling charges 33% . per cent and their storage charges 5 per cent. The companies at a hearing yesterday said these rate increases were necessary because their labor costs had increased 40 per cent following settlement of a recent wage dispute by the State Labor Division. Howell Ellis represented the storage companies. They are: Indiana Naval Stores Co. 403 W. 17th St.; Henry €oburn Storage & Warehouse Co., 211-233 W. Georgia St.; Tripp Warehouse Co., 1001 E. New York St.; Indianapolis Warehouse & Storage Co., Inc, 330 W. New York St. ‘and Strohm Warehouse ~ & Cartage Co., 230 W. McCarthy St. Others -are the Central Public Warehouse Co., 601 Kentucky Ave.; Indiana Terminal & Refrigerating Co., 230-246 S. Pennsylvania St.; Central Transfer & Storage Co, Inc.,, 209 W. South St, and Rolling Mills Warehouse, Inc., 620 S. Capitol Ave. Rates of these warehouses are under the Commission’s jurisdiction, but petitions of this type seldom are filed, it was said.
