SUE GUILD FOR $200,000 LIBEL
Union Says Rival Guilty of False Charge on Origin | Of Group.
HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 24 (U. P.).— A battle between two groups of motion picture screen writers over collective bargaining rights today developed into a $200,000 libel suit. The Screen Playwrights, Inc., sued the Screen Writers Guild of the Author’s League of America. Basis for the suit was the alleged publication” of a letter in which it was charged the playwrights’ organization was formed “by the producers and a small group of writers for the express: purpose of wrecking the Screen Writers’ Guild with tactics of a typical company union.” The letter was signed Philip Dunne, who is one of the defendants, and was addressed to P. G. Wodehouse, British writer, according to the complaint. ? The complaint named as defendants such well known writers as Dudley Nichols, Charles Hackett, Frances Goodrich, John Grey, Sheridan Gibney, Albert Hackett, Dashiel Hamett, Lillian Hellman, Bryan Marlow, Edwin Justus Mayer, Jane Murphin, Dorothy. Parker, Savson Raphaelson, Morris Ryskind and Donald Ogden Stewart.

Delays Ford Case
WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 (U. PJ). .—The National Labor Relations Board has been forced to delay adjudication of union complaints that the Ford Motor Co. is allegedly violating the Wagner Labor Act, it was learned today. No representative of the board has yet béen assigned to review the case, preparatory to the writing of a decision, it was disclosed. Admits Lying in Weirton Hearing STEUBENVILLE, O., Sept. 24 (U. P.). — Milan Ralich, 23, former Weirton Steel Co. employee, admitted today he “lied” when he told a Labor Board hearing he knew twe men who filled their automobiles with Weirton company gasoline to carry voters to a congressional election. : Ralich, who said he was told to “get out of the Weirton mill” the day after he appeared in a CIO parade through Weirton this spring, admitted under questioning: “Sure I lied. I know only one man, a man by the name of Borich, who talked to me and said ‘I got a full tank of gasoline and I only made two trips.’” This was in regard to testimony that Weirton company gasoline allegedly was put in cars used to carry voters to the polls.

Times Special FULTON, Sept. 24—The Rev. B. G. Fields, Rochester, today assumed his duties as moderator of the Logansport Baptist Association. The Rev. J. E. Yarian, Perrysburg, was chosen vice-moderator, and Mrs. Roger William, Denver, clerktreasurer. Royal Center was selected as the site for next year’s meeting. The session closed here yesterday.
