GOT ORDERS PREPARED FOR OIL EXECUTIVES
48 Officials of Firms Slated For Antitrust Trial on Oct. 4.
MADISON, Wis., Sept. 22 (U. PJ). —Government attorneys today prepared a notice calling to trial Oct. 4 all but nine or 10 of the 58 oil company executives charged with a price-fixing conspiracy in violation of the antitrust laws. It was disclosed the Government will consent to a severance in the case of Frank R. Coates, New York, vice president of Cities Service Export Oil Co., reported seriously ill. It was expected also that Edwin Karstedt, Denver, former Continental Oil vice president, would not be called. Mr, Karstedt underwent a serious operation in a Denver hospital yesterday. Federal Judge Patrick T. Stone has denied Edward B. Reeser, Tulsa, president of Barnsdall Refining Co., and his company a separate trial. Other defendants not called to
trial Oct. 4 are John A. Brown, New York, president of Socony-Vacuum; D. W. Harris, | Shreveport, La., general manager of Louisiana Oil; Keith Fanshier, Chicago, petroleum editor of the Chicago Journal of Commerce; Bernard L. Majewski, Chicago, vice president of Deep Rock; and four Gulf Oil officials, O. H. Carlisle, Houston, Tex. and J. F., Drake, W. V. Hartmann and H. C. Meyer, all of Pittsburgh.
