LAKE FOREST, Ill, Sept. 16 (U. P.).—Henner Henkel, member of Germany’s national doubles championship team, yesterday administered to Don Budge of Oakland, Cal, his first defeat since he won the Wimbledon tennis singles title
this summer. Henkel defeated the ' national singles title-holder 6-4, 10-8 in an exhibition match at the Onwentsia Club. His baseline drifes were a vital factor. Baron Gottfried von Cramm, “second ranking player in the world and Henkel’s doubles partner, had to come from behind to defeat Bobby Riggs, Los Angeles national clay court champion, 2-6, 8-6, 6-4. Anita Lizana, U. S. singles champion, defeated Gracyn Wheeler, Santa Monica, Cal., 10-8, 7-5. Jadwiga Jedrzejowska, Polish star, defeated Marie Horn, Germany, 6-4, and was tied six-all in the second set when darkness interrupted. Riggs and Wayne -Sabin, California, defeated England's Davis Cup doubles team of Charles Hare and G. Patrick Hughes, 6-0, 6-4.
