Both Mr. Bernat and Mr. Day have played in the violin section of the orchestra as well. In addition, Mr. Bernat is the composer of a symphony which has gained favorable recognition. The third movement, a Scherzo, has been played twice by the Indianapolis Orchestra under Ferdinand Schaefer's direction. Mr. Grueling is director of the WPA Concert Orchestra, heard in biweekly broadcasts from WIRE. He and Mr. Lutz have béen orchestra members for several years. Mr. Miner also has announced a partial list of Indianapolis musicians in the cello section. - They are Walter Reuleaux and William Doolittle. The former is the orchestra’s personnel manager and musical director at WFBM. Mr. Doolittle, one of the orchestra's younger members, joined the group late last season and played in the two final concerts.

Partners “ ~~ By Chance

Reis and Dunn Liked Their Impromptu Duet.

‘re a young man named Reis hadn't wanted to buy a song one day 10 years ago, and if another young man named Dunn hadn’t sold it to him, the Plantation prob-

ably-wouldn’t be playing the comedy song-team composed of these gentlemen this week. Reis was working for NBC at the time, and Dunn “plugged” songs for a publishing house. The latter brought the radio singer a new tune one afternoon, and chimed in on the second chorus. They both liked the effect, and since then have been working in partnership. One of their first engagements was for ‘11 months at the Capitol Theater in New York. Then they became the first radio performers for Rudy Vallee’s present sponsors. Just for old times’ sake, they've appeared several times as guests on the (Vallee program. During the past decade Reis and Dunn claimed to have played every vaudeville theater in the country, plus a good many big-time night clubs. Their engagement at the local dine-and-dance spot is to continue through the next 10 days.
