hos Bandit Sends Taxi Driver to Headquarters.
DETROIT, Sept. 10 (U.P.) —Albert Lablane,-27, sat in a police head-
quarters cell today, rueing the fact.
that his knowledge of public buildings was SO meager. "| He hailed the cab of William Stevens late last night. With his hand in his pocket, simulating a revolver, Leblanc held up the cab driver, robbing him of more than $10, police said.
~ “Now drive me to Beaubien and:
Macomb Sts.,” Leblanc ordered. Stevens complied, halting his cab before a large building on the corner.
Leblanc dashed out of the cab but was stopped before he had gone 20 feet. Stevens had stopped his cab in front of police headquarters during a change of shifts.

Pork Hint
Memphis Asked for It; Rep. Chandler Sends a Booklet,
Times Special WASHINGTON, Sept. 10.—Rep. Walter Chandler ¢D. Tenn.) has peeved the strong Ed Crump organization of Memphis, which elected him to Congress about three years ago. - Organizatibn leaders in Memphis accuse him of not doing enough to get Federal “pork” money for Memphis in the form of PWA projects. Rep. Chandler denies this, saying he did all he could to get the projects approved. Before the fuss, the Memphis City Government planned a municipal fair, and Rep. Chandler’s office was asked to furnish some Government bulletins (such as are regularly distributed to farmer constituents) for distribution at the fair. This week, Rep. Chandler’s office is sending 10,000 of these booklets covering various topics to Memphis. The title of one is “Pork in Preferred Ways.”
