Toledo Team Invades for Four ( Games

Visitors One po. Shep Behind Red Birds; ‘Logan Night’ At Stadium.

| Lewis,

Having lost three out of four to the league-leading Columbus Red | Birds, the Indians will take on an- | other pennant contender, the To- | ledo Mud Hens, under the lights at Perry Stadium tonight. “Bob Logan Night” will be cele- | brated in honor of the Tribe's ace southpaw pitcher and there will be | a wedding shower at the home plate preceding the series opener. Logan | was married to Miss Evelyn Reid of | Pawnee, Neb., yesterday afternoon at Maxwell, Ind. The couple obtained a license at Greenfield. Nor- | man A. Perry, owner of the In-| dians, will lead off the wedding | shower with the presentation of a new automobile to the hurler, The second-place Toledo club, running only one game behind the Red Birds, is scheduled here for four tilts with the sixth-place Redskins. The program calls for a single game tonight, a twilight-moonlight double- | header tomorrow and a single tilt] Saturday night. {

Birds, Hens Win Two

Columbus trounced Indianapolis in both games yesterday, 11 to 0, and 8 to 4, and Toledo knocked off Louisville in two games at Louilsville, 10 to 6, and 15 to 6. Minneapolis, in third place, is a game and | one-half behind Columbus and onehalf game back of Toledo. The Millers divided a twin bill with the Kansas City Blues, winning the first, 18 to 12, and losing the second, 6 to 5. Minneapolis scored 10 runs in the eighth of the opener, Columbus tallied 11 runs on 1i3 hits in the twilight contest yesterday and Vance Page, Tribe righthander, suffered through a sound | lacing. His mates were unable to hit with runners on base. Johnny Chambers, Red Bird righthander, chalked up an easy shutout although allowing nine hits. King paced the visitors at the plate with three | blows and the Redskins committed | three miscues. In the night game the Indians opened with Jimmy Sharp, up from Montgomery, on the mound and the young southpaw had no con- | trol. He issued six walks, yielded three hits and six runs before | Jimmy Crandall relieved him. The | Indians didn't worry Nelson Potter, Columbus hurler, until the] late innings when they scored one marker in the eighth ande¢three in the ninth, |
