BRADSHAW HELD | STATE FAVORITE FOR LEGION JOB
Indianapolis Judge Leads Aspirants to Indiana Leadership.

TERRE HAUTE, Aug. 18.—Judge | Wilfred E. Bradshaw, Indianapolis, today appeared the leading aspirant | for state commander of the American Legion when the organization
opens its annual convention here next Monday. His candidacy has dorsement from numerous throughout the state. Judge Bradshaw's most formidable opponent, if he enters the contest, probably will be Russell (Rocky) Rhodes, Peru. Other names mentioned in connection with the office are George Huish, East Chicago; Pat Maloney, Gary, and John Watkins, Linton. Names of candidates for vice commander and for national executive committeman also are being placed in the list which will go before the convention's election on the closing day of the meeting, Aug. 24. For vice commander in the southern division, Harold Schindler, Newburgh, has been mentioned prominently and two names are heard in connection with the northern vice commandership— Lewis Murphy, South Bend, and | Ray Townsley, Danville Legionnaires of the Funkhouser Post, No. 8 Evansville, are backing Louis L. Roberts of that post for the office of national executive committeeman. The Legion will open Monday

LOST MIDGET PLANE IS SOUGHT BY OWNER
A midget plane, two miles east of Stout Field, was sought by its youthful owner today. The plane, propelled by a tiny gasoline engine, took off from the field yesterday in a “test flight” preparatory to the midget airplane meet to he held at the Municipal Airport, Aug. 29. It came down out of the sight of its owner and builder, Roscoe Judd, 21. He has requested anyone finding the lost plane to return it to him at the Em-Roe Sports Store. He values the craft at $40,

BUS LINE IS BANNED FROM CITY SERVICE
Railways Wins Temporary Order Against Poporad.
Superior Court Judge Herbert E. Wilson today had granted Indian-
apolis Railways a temporary restraining order prohibiting Tony's Safety Coach Lines from picking up and discharging passengers on W. Washington St. within the city limits, The Railways contended that Tony Poporad, operator of the lines, does not have a permit to do so and that such action is in violation of the city “jitney” ordinance. The company cited that his permit provides only for picking up passengers within the city and discharging them outside, or picking them up outside and discharging them within. The company also asked a permanent injunction. Hearing was set for Sept. 4. Mr. Poporad’s appeal of a Public Service Commission ruling denying him authority to fix a 7-cent or any other rate for operation within the city is pending in Superior Court.
