another double-header with the Saints today. activities in the West for

up the Tribe's The Redskins’ farewell tour in this section of the league wrecked their pennant hopes, but there's still a chance to land in the post-season playoffs by climbing back to fourth place where the club held forth when it left home. The bargain attraction at Lexington Park vesterday was split and the I result left the series a standoff with each team showing two victories. The Hoosiers pounded the horsehide all over the park in the first half of the double bill, collected 18 hits and won, 12 to 4. The second tilt was annexed by the Apostles, 8 to 5. Red Phillips lasted the route on the Tribe mound in the 12-4 game and he had smooth sailing after the opening frame. Every member of the Tribe lineup got one or more hits and Bob Kahle paced the team with three. Fred Berger helped things along with a home run cver the left-field wall in the third stanza Lefty Bob Logan essaved to puzzle the Saints in the second contest and

was knocked out of the picture in |

the fifth canto. It was his fourth defeat on the tour through the West. The Indians jumped off to 3-to-0 lead in the nightcap, but Logan weakened in the third inning and a double by Morrissey, a single by Steinbacher and a home run by Norman deadlocked the score. MecLaughlin relieved Logan in the fifth and worked until the eighth, when he gave way to a pinch hitter and Braxton finished. Eight doubles were clicked off in the second battle and the Saints got five of them. George Archie of the Redskins weighed in with a pair of two-base blows and a single, giving him five hits for the afternoon. Oscar Eckhardt, the Tribe's veteran rightfielder, injured his shoulder trying for a shoestring catch in the opening inning of the first game and was forced to retire to the sidelines for the day. The Indians will depart for Louisville tonight and spend tomorrow en route to Derbytown. The series with the Colonels will be a three-game affair with one game Saturday afternoon and a double-header Sunday. The Hoosiers will be idle on Monday and then will swing into action again at Indianapolis on Tuesday, playing Kansas City Southern Indiana Day will be celebrated in Louisville on Sunday. It's an annual event at Parkway Field.
