Suspect in Robbery of Cigaret Case.

Detectives today were to return from Rushville two men reported to have confessed stealing a taxicab here and later abandoning it. The pair, John Stewart, 22, of 828 Daly St., and Raymond Pavey, 25, of 1201 English Ave. according to Rushville police, said they had hitchhiked from Morristown after abandoning the cab. = Farrell Bennett, 23, of 713 N. Two gunmen took $14 and a revolver from Ray Whittaker, 23, of Greenwood, attendant in a filling station at 3749 Madison Ave., last night after locking him in the washroom, according to police. Presidency of the Young Democratic Clubs of America may be sought by seven candidates when the organization holds its national convention in Cadle Tabernacle, opening Aug. 19. Alvin C. Johnson, Indianapolis, the Young Democrats of Indiana president, said five states are spon-

soring native sons for the office with two other nominations likely. Those mentioned for the presidency are ,Robert S. Campbell, Wichita, Kas.; Paul A. mom

Columbia, Mo.; Lockwood Thompson, Cleveland; Thomas M. Logan, Covington, Ky. and Pitt Tyson Maner, Montgomery, Ala., all supported by state delegations, with Charles Bliss, Illinois, and Marlan Ray, Oklahoma, as two other likely candidates. The convention is expected to attract 10,000 young Democrats. James Roosevelt, son of the | President, is scheduled to give the | keynote address on Aug. 20. Other | speakers may be Mrs. Franklin D. | Roosevelt, Postmaster General James A. Farley and Governor Murphy | of Michigan. | Governor Townsend and Mayor | Kern are to give welcoming addresses. BLIND WOMAN HURT | IN FALL ON STAIRS

Mrs. Louise Gakstetter, 80, of 2742 Manker St, a blind woman, was recovering in her home today from injuries she suffered yesterday when she fell downstairs. She fractuerd both arms and was treated in City Hospital.

CHILDREN RECOVER FROM SNAKE BITES

The condition of Catherine and Jack Nay, Morgan County children who were bitten by a copperhead snake, today was reported improved at the James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children. At the same time Frank N. Wallace, state entomologist, warned persons bitten by snakes to act quickly. Hospital physicians attribute the children’s recovery to quick action of an older brother in rushing them to the hospital.

PIKE COUNTY FARM RAIDED BY GYPSIES

By United Press PETERSBURG, Aug. 9—A caravan of gypsies and Indians, traveling in six automobiles, yesterday were reported to have looted the farm home of Willima Like near Rogers, five miles northeast of here,

while the family was attending church. Lester Swan, another farmer living on State Highway 57 near the Like farm, reported the gypsies stopped at his home and asked to buy some chickens. He said they drew a gun on Mrs. Swan but fled when he attempted to call the sheriff.
