H OW many times have you gambled your

life to save a minute?=—To beat a train at a crossing—To beat a changing traffic light—To pass a slower car in heavy traffic— Probably, like everyone else, far too many times.

And why did you do it? Very likely to get home ten minutes earlier than you would otherwise. Minutes you probably spent reclining on the davenport. And to save them you took a chance which might very well have sent you to the Morgue, where you would do your reclining on a marble slab.

The next time you get that tingle in your blood—that senseless, almost irresistible urge to “step on it”—ask yourself whether vou are prepared, financially and otherwise, to die. And even if vou are, ask yourself whether those you love are prepared to lose you. Bear in mind also those others, strangers to you, whom vour carelessness might also kill or maim.

Remember always that the automobile is a socially useful machine—one that is indispensable to modern methods of transport and communication. .But remember also that this valued servant becomes, in the hands of a fool, a weapon more lethal than a

cannon.
