BUDGET PLEAS OF CITY UNITS UP BY $31,441
Only Five Departments Request Less Than in "37, Figures Show.
Departmental budget requests submitted to the City Controller show | an increase of $31,441.32 among 17 | departments, Controller Walter Boetcher said today. The 33 remaining reports must be filed by Monday. Only five de- | partments requested funds lower than this year. They were the City Controller, an $8903.91 decrease; municipal garage, $9749.02; market and refrigeration, $380.53; flood prevention, $2826.42, and World War Memorial, $2720.

ASKED BECAUSE OF NEW POLICE
Additional Officers and Prospect of 12 More Result in Request.
Appointment of 24 new second grade patrolmen to the police force and the possibility that 12 more may be added within the next month, today forced the City to ask transfer of $40,711 within the Po-
lice Budget. The petition for transfer, set out in an appropriation ordinance, is to be heard Monday morning by the State Tax Board. The Police Department also is seeking $1500 for new scientific equipment and first aid Kits for patrol cars, according to the petition. Also scheduled for hearing Monday is a Warren Township school request for $11,400. The petition asks $4200 for salaries. Fuel and supplies account for the remaining $7200. $15,995 Sought
A similar request from Speedway City for $15,995 and reappropriation ordinances asking $21,799 for the Julietta Division of Marion County Infirmary complete the Marion County additional appropriation calendar for the next week. Meanwhile dozens of additional appropriation petitions are flooding the State Board in a last minute effort to place school cities in | the State on the requested calendar basis.
