New Loyalist Drive At Madrid Reported

HENDAYE, FRENCH - SPANISH FRONTIER, July 6.—Spanish Loyalist forces have started a strong offensive 20 miles south of Madrid, it was announced today. A defense ministry communique from Madrid said that Loyalists started toward Sesena, between the | Aranjuez and Toledo roads south of | the capital, and were “continuing | their advance.” { Rebel advices indicated that a big drive on Santander might be | started today if the weather held | good. It was said that the Rebels | had massed 30,000 men, newly sup- | plied with late model arms, about | 40 miles south of Santander near | the Gurgos Road. Thence they would drive north on a new sector while other Rebel columns proceeded westward from Bilbao and rom a point south of Bilbao. |
