OPPOSES LOWERING LAND LOAN CHARGE

Credit Official Urges Cut in ‘Interest Subsidies.’

By United Press WASHINGTON, June 17.—Governor William I. Myers of the Farm Credit Administration today opposed lower interest rates on Federal Land Bank loans in a letter to the Senate Banking and Currency Commitee. ‘ Mr.. Myers said it was time to taper off “interest subsidies” in line with President Roosevelt's “fiscal policy.” “It appears possibe that if the land banks continue to finance purchases of farms at artificially low interest rates, it’ may have a far-

reaching effect on the whole structure of land values,” Mr. Myers said.
