Pendleton Guard Among Three Hurt When Car Upsets ~on Highway.
By United Press Til PENDLETON, Ind, June 17.— Marvin James, 31, brother of Charles James, U. S. Marshal at Indianapolis, was killed near here last night in the second of two accidents. Mr. James’ car overturned when it collided with a machine driven by A. L. Abrahamson, Indianapolis, | and L. C. Schweitzer. Chicago, both | of whom were injured. According to State Police, Mr. James received a broken arm in this mishap and was sitting by-his automobile, which had overturned, when: another machine driven by Ralph Pitsford struck him. Mr. Pitsford was not held but was released on his own recognizance pending the result of a coroner’s inquet, Mr. James, who lived in Lexington, Ind., was a guard at the Pendleton Reformatory.

John Goddard, a member of the 1937 Technical High School graduating class, has been awarded the Harvard - National Scholarship, valued at $800 a year, it was announced today. 3 The award was made on the basis of credentials and recommenda- | tions from the high school and the { results of examinations conducted in April under supervision of the college board. Mr. Goddard is to enter the Harvard College of Liberal Arts and Sciences this fall. At the Technical Commencement exercises, Mr. Goddard was awarded the Milo H. Stuart medal for perserverence and personal development; the Faculty Scholarship medal for achieving the highest scholastic record; the Reading Book prize; the Alliance Francaise award for proficiency in French, and the Latin Department medal.
