CANADIAN RAIN | INDUCES SALES IN CHICAGO PIT
Corn Prices ‘Were Lower In Sympathy With Wheat. |
By United Press CHICAGO, June 12.—Liquidattion induced by reports of showers in the spring wheat area coupled with weakness in foreign markets carried wheat futures into lower ground here today, The decline in the “big pit” had a bearish influence on ‘other cereals. Athe close wheat was 21% to 23% cents lower, July $1.05%; new corn was 12 to 3 cents lower, $1.¥2; old corn was 2 cents lower, July $1.11, and oats were %: to 1 cent lower, July 38 cents. ! The opening of trading th wheat was at sharply lower levels. Buying power was poor until after the July delivery reached $1.12; at which point enough support was #incovered to check the downward tmend for 2 while. = Selling persisted, however,
8, and early losses were extended in
the final hour of the short session. Continued fair milling demand for cash wheat here lent a little support to the futures. Shippers reported sales of 16 010 bushels, while 3000 bushels’ weye booked to arrive. An additional’ bit of news {encouraging to bulls-wias the report that a few loads of, hard winter wheat were sold to ‘the European continent yesterday vila the gulf. Corn prices followed the downward trend in wheat with increased receipts putting additional pressure on the old crop months. July corn at one time was off a cent a bushel .- while the September was down 2 Some trad:rs looked for the usual June run pf corn from the

the new crop, bat some circles believe there is litgle promise for the building up of any important contract stocks ‘during the present month. Oats, rye amd soy beans also showed prononced weakness as a result of ligwidntion,
