—PROF. RAY BABER, N. Y. University sociologist, found that, among college students, men place the qualities they desire in their wives in the following order: 1, personality and disposition; 2, intelligence and education; 3, health; 4, beauty; 5, morality; 6, family background; 7, similarity of religion; 8, proximity in age; 9 money. The girls on the other hand ranked these same qualities as follows: ' 1, intelligence and education; 2, personality and, disposition; 3, health; 4, similarity of religion; 5, morality; 6, money; 7, family background; 8, good looks: 9, proximity in age. —SO0 Dorothea Brande argues In her much talked of and very stimulating book, “Wake Up and Live.” She argues that while we have heard much about the “Will to Power,” the “Will to Live,” etc. we have not recognized we are likely to develop a “Will to Fail,” into which we put enough energy to have succeeded. When we constantly picture ourselves as failures or likely to fail, and constantly make excuses, which we tell ourselves are “reasons” why
these she maintains are manifestations of the will to fail.

—ONE leading psychologist maintains that all self-con-sciousness can be cured, but that fundamentally a considerable degree of self-consciousness is evidence of a fine and sensitive nature. He says, “Self-consciousness is the setting for the jewel of conscience. It is the distinguishing mark of the dreamer, artist, men and women of imagination, mental aristocrats—the tender-minded as against the tough-minded.” Certainly dominating, self-willed, inconsiderate people, who care little for the feeling of others, lack sadly in self-consciousness.
