Claim Unique Feat Filmed

By United Press HOLLYWOOD, May 13.— That often-heard- of but neverseen feat of an eagle carrying off a child has been filmed, a Hollywood motion picture cast claimed today. It was a live child, too, they insisted. The thrill scene was needed for Cascade Picture’s “Maid of the Mountains.” Though experts insisted it could be done only with a dummy, Director Richard Lestrange cast his 18-months-old daughter, Jill, in the child role, and went to work on the eagle. Fort a fortnight the eagle was drilled with a dummy . child. For the final scene, the director’s daughter was substituted. Mr. Lestrange said the eagle swooped down, clutched the girl in his talons and rose 12 feet with her. A special contrivance held the eagle from flying higher. Other precautions prevented possibility of the child being injured, the father assured.

Ziegfeld’s Estate Sues Producers

$17,500 Is Asked for Use of Showman's Name In Picture.

By United Press WHITE PLAINS, N. Y,, May 13.—The estate of the late Florenz Ziegfeld sought $17,500 today for its only asset—the showman’s name. Approval of a settlement in that amount was asked by William S. Coffey, public ad-

ministrator, who brought suit against Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer for a share of the profits from the motion picture, “The Great Ziegfeld.” The suit was brought in behalf of creditors to whom Ziegfeld owed an estimated $100,000 when he died. Coffey contended the name was the estate’s sole asset and that since 1900 it had been famous as “denoting a unique form of entertainment featuring beautiful women, elaborate costumes and scenic effects.” M-G-M argued when the suit
