By nied Press CLEVELAND, May T7.—Recent announcement - of third-quarter prices and easing of delivery pres- | sure have improved conditions in | the steel market, the magazine | Steel said today. Steel makers have enough tonnage booked to maintain the present high rate of op- | erations for many weeks. | Uncertainties affecting general | business and the stock market have caused some unsettlement, but * bookings are sufficiently large for the industry to run on momentum alone for a considerable period, and the constant flow of new business apparently is little affected by outside factors. ||Earnings of $5.24 per ton of steel produced in the first quarter are fiopere with $1.39 a ton in the corresponding period of 1935, according. to Steel's compilation of earnings.
