Foodstuffs and Live Stock Raised to Feed Poor and Institution Inmates.
The State of Indiana is a farmer in its own rights. Last year on State-owned lands 23,340 bushels of wheat, 61,094 bushels of corn, 11,290 bushels of oats, 11,400 pounds of tobacco, 687,776 .pounds of pork, 100,456 pounds of lard, 138,529 pounds of beef, 5163 tons of fodder, 28,707 pounds of veal, 157,609 dozen eggs; 615,086 gallons of
‘milk and 101,209 head of poultry
were produced. A recent inventory showed the State possesses 15,5307.75 acres of
* farm land, which includes timber,
pasture, garden, grain, legumes and orchard. : From the produce of the 1170 acres of garden land, the State feeds most of the inmates of her institutions and helps feed the poor. uch of it is canned for winter consumption, State officials said. Norman McCloud, 25, of Salvation Army Industrial Home, was recovering in City Hospital today

shoulder. He was found at Talbott and Michigan Sts. last night by Clem Stair, 127 E. Michigan St., and Sam Nealis, 2222 Kenwood Ave. He told them he had been shot during a struggle with a Negro bandit, they said. At the hospital he told detectives, they said, that he had shot himself in a suicide attempt.

CHICAGO, May 5-= Automobile drivers of the Middle-West are ine vited by the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) to take part in a huge survey of the services now being rendered at gasoline stations. | The purpose of the survey is to determine what services enjoy the greatest public approval, and how Standard Oil Dealers can aid further in promoting the safety, comfort and convenience of the man or woman who drives a car. Motorists who submit the winning reports will receive cash awards amounting to $5,000, while Standard Oil Dealers who assist the winners will be awarded a like sum, making a grand total of $10,000 in prizes. Beginning May 5, the survey will continue for a period of six weeks. All reports must be mailed before midnight of June 15, to be considered for the cash awards.
