SHIPPING SALES HOLD TOP HOGS AT $10.50 LEVEL
Cattle Trade Moves Slowly; Vealer Market Falls 50 Cents.
By Bureau of Agricultural Economics U. S. Department of Agriculture
The market for hogs held Saturday’s sharp gains when a run of 6000 head changed hands today. Demand from shippers was fairly urgent and the marKet was established early. Top was again $10.50 for choice 210-225-pound weights. Sows sold with a range of $9.25 to
ward to $9.85. Despite a light cattle run, demand
trading moved slowly. Steers and heifers were in especially small sup-, ply.and mostly steady. Most steers moved within a range of $9-10.25, with a few medium Weights upward of $12.50. Cattle receipts were estimated at 1200. head. There was a consensus of opinion among buyers that vealer prices should be lower this morning. As receipts around the 11-market circle were somewhat heavier than last Monday, salesmen finally had to concede a schedule 50 cents under last Friday's.
to be represented on the local market, but in the opinion of the trade prices would have been at least 25 cents lower than last Friday for strictly choice kinds, Qr $10.75 top.
